IDENTIFY, LOCATE AND PROTECT UNDERGROUND SERVICES
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The aim of this training is to impart to participant the skills and knowledge required to identify, locate and protect underground services in preparation of a site for construction operations including searching for known or potential services or utilities which may exist under the surface of a specified excavation site.
Award Issued
On successful completion of the theory component and onsite practical exercise students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following unit.

Learning Strategies
This course is broken into two (2) parts:
Part 1: Theory
- A one (1) day trainer led session, will take students through a power point and assessment workbook, this includes: group discussions, case studies, exercises.
- The assessment will be completed gradually in stages as the day progresses. A 100% pass mark is required. Two (2) attempts at the theory component are permitted; trainer assistance is available for a second attempt.
Part 2: Practical
Students will complete the practical component with photographic evidence of activities undertaken on the job of identifying and locating underground services employing appropriate techniques, plant and equipment to search for services and utilities identifying services and owners of services and utilities, supply organisational documents ie x3 SWMS, x3 risk assessments, DBYD and third party verification for final assessment.
